Linter Island

Charles Linter was the Chief Engineer on board the HM Dominion Surveying Steamer ‘Bayfield’ from 1884 until his sudden death on 16th March 1886.  At that time the Bayfield was surveying Georgian Bay, Lake Ontario and two geographical features, namely Linter Island (46˚ 06’N, 82˚ 10’W) and Linter Rock (45˚ 57’N, 81˚ 34’W) were named in his memory but I haven’t been able to locate these on any maps so far and I don’t know where Charles fits in on the family tree.  If anyone has any information I would be vey glad to hear from them.
